Common Questions About Paint Protection Film

  • How long does paint protection film last?

    High-quality paint protection film is designed to last for many years under normal driving conditions. The exact lifespan depends on how the vehicle is cared for and the environment it is regularly exposed to. Proper maintenance, including regular washing and avoiding harsh chemical products, will extend the life of your film significantly.

  • Will I be able to see the film on my paint?

    When installed correctly, clear paint protection film is nearly invisible. You may notice a slight edge along panel lines up close, but from a normal viewing distance the film blends seamlessly with your paint. Our precise installation process ensures clean, tight edges and a finished look you can be proud of.

  • Can paint protection film be removed?

    Yes. Paint protection film is designed to be removable without damaging your paint, provided it is done properly and by an experienced installer. Film that has been left on for an extended period may require more care during removal.

  • Does paint protection film work with ceramic coating?

    Absolutely, and we recommend the combination. Film handles the physical npact resistance, and ceramic coating over the top of the film adds hydrophobic performance and makes both surfaces easier to maintain. We offer a dedicated PPF ceramic coating add-on through our ceramic coating page for exactly this purpose.

  • What is the difference between gloss and matte PPF?

    Clear or gloss paint protection film preserves and enhances your existing paint finish. Matte or satin film is designed either for vehicles that already have a matte finish or for drivers who want to convert a gloss finish to a matte look with a full-body application. Each is available as a separate package at Lo's Custom Tint & PPF.

  • Do I need to prep my paint before PPF installation?

    We recommend a paint correction or at minimum a thorough decontamination before film installation. Installing film over imperfect or contaminated paint seals in those defects. Starting with a clean, corrected surface ensures the film bonds properly and your paint looks its best underneath the film for years to come.
